Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is much popular for Indian pilgrimage tour. It is believed that Mata Vaishnavi had spent some time here while observing various spiritual disciplines and penitence. Pilgrims love to see their Goddess enshrined in three pindis of Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati and Maha Kali.

Amarnath Shrine is another much traveled pilgrimage place of India. There lies interesting story behind the discovery of this sacred shrine. Pilgrims challenge the absurd weather conditions and other obstacles and reach the Amarnath Cave where Lord Shiva is enshrined in form of ice.

Char Dhaam Yatra is one of the most traveled pilgrimage destinations of India. Darshan of four closely located places is called collectively Char dhaam yatra. The first is Badrinath that lies in the state of Uttrakhand. Also known as the Vishal Badri, the largest among the five Badris. Kedarnath is one of the twelve "Jyotirlingas" of Lord Shiva. Gangotri temple is located near Gaumukh Glacier - the source of sacred river the Ganges. The sacred shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna, is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas.

Varanasi also called Kashi is one of the most important places. It has amazing ghats around the Ganges. There are many temples in close circuit of Ganga ghat. Evening prayers are surely not to miss here.

Allahabad, also called Prayag, is visited by travelers who go for pilgrimage travel packages in India. The confluence of three holy rivers on sangam is worthwhile. Taking a dip in holy waters of here is quite common.

Dwarka is one of the famous places for pilgrimage for devotees of lord Krishna. Located in Gujarat, Dwarka is a must see.

Puri is among the famous Char Dhaam of Hindus. Lord Jaganatha is seated here with his brother and sister.

Rameshwaram is the last among the Char dhaams. Located in extreme south, it is visited for darshan of Lord Shiva.

Pushkar is the place that enshrines one and only temple in India devoted to Lord Brahma, the creator of the world. There are many other temples here that are worth visiting.

Ajmer shariff is major pilgrim destination for not only Muslims but people of other religions also. The annual Urs held here is a great attraction.

Golden Temple Shrine in Amritsar is flocked by not only Sikh devotees but also many other people. This temple is of great reverence among devotees.
